The pilgrim route to Sveta Gora at 682 metres altitude, steeply rises above the Soča River and Solkan. From the hill, visitors can enjoy the view of picturesque Julian Alps in the north, Trnovski gozd, Škabrijel and Grgar in the east, Gorizia, Solkan, Sabotin, Karst and the Adriatic Sea in the south, and the wine-growing region of Brda, Carnian Alps and the Dolomites in the west. Sveta Gora with its glorious basilica, Franciscan monastery, pilgrim lodge, Tau spiritual and education centre and a restaurant can be seen as a pearl of the European themed trail that connects three pilgrim sanctuaries, including Stara Gora near Cividale del Friuli and Marijino Celje at Kanalski Kolovrat.
