Between Gorica and Nova Gorica, on the Slovenian side of the Slovenian-Italian border, there is a 143 m. (470 ft.) hill on which stands the Church of the Annunciation of Mary along with its adjoining Franciscan monastery. This sacred pilgrimage shrine on Kostanjevica, or on Kapela as the local people call it, is rich in history and treasures of the past. For the people living on both sides of the border, this is an oasis of greenery, peace and spirituality.
